White Genius Bot
Outside Bot is an ode to the freedoms we lost during the COVID-19 pandemic. With the world in quarantine, streets stood empty, life was confined indoors, and the only movement outside came from essential workers. This artwork captures that surreal moment through the image of a red, android-like figure holding a broken heart a metaphor for isolation, longing, and the fractured connections of that era.
The accompanying video pairs this imagery with Donald Trump’s addresses to the nation, intercut with flashes of joy from pre-pandemic life: clubs, cookouts, amusement parks. These memories of togetherness, contrasted with the bot’s loneliness, highlight the tension between human connection and forced separation. The soundtrack, Westside Gunn’s Love U, gives the piece an additional layer of grit and soul, grounding the visual in hip-hop culture and resilience.
